A dead man's switch is a safety mechanism that requires regular check-ins. If you fail to check in within a specified time period, the system automatically takes action - in this case, notifying your emergency contacts via email.
1) Add at least one emergency contact with their email address. 2) Write the message you want them to receive. 3) Set your name on the Message screen. 4) Choose your check-in interval in Settings. 5) Tap "ARM SWITCH" on the home screen.
You can add up to 3 emergency contacts. All contacts will receive the same message simultaneously if you miss a check-in.
If you don't check in before your timer expires, the app will automatically send your pre-written message to all your emergency contacts via email. This happens even if your phone is off or the app is closed.
Yes! The app sends push notifications to remind you when your check-in deadline is approaching. Make sure notifications are enabled for the app in your device settings.
Yes. Go to Settings and adjust the interval anywhere from 24 hours to 1 year. Preset options include 1-3 days, 1-2 weeks, or you can set a custom interval.
Unfortunately, once the timer expires and emails are sent, they cannot be unsent. We recommend setting a comfortable interval and enabling notifications to avoid accidental triggers.
Yes. Your configuration (contacts, message, settings) is stored securely on your device using encrypted storage (Expo SecureStore). Your data is synced with our server only for the purpose of sending notifications when you miss a check-in.
No one can see your data except you and your designated contacts (when a notification is triggered). We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
Use the "Reset All Data" button in Settings to delete all your data from both your device and our servers. Alternatively, contact us at areyoudeadyetapp@gmail.com to request data deletion.
Make sure push notifications are enabled for the app in your device's Settings. Also ensure the switch is armed (shows "ARMED" status on home screen).
Check that you've entered valid email addresses for your contacts. Also ask your contacts to check their spam/junk folders. If issues persist, contact support.
To arm the switch, you need to: 1) Add at least one contact, 2) Set your message, and 3) Enter your name (both on the Message screen). The home screen will show what's missing.
